(A)Best Practices
1. Title of the Practice:
Co- Curricular Activities.
2. Goal:
Co- Curricular Activities has been adopted as a best practice by the institution with the following objectives i.e.
- To project an institution that moulds and provides all round development in the student’s educational phase.
- To develop in the students the need for holistic growth- academic, physical, spiritual as well as mental development.
- To tap and nurture the various inherent talents in the students.
- To promote interaction, develop responsibilities and initiation of leadership training and qualities.
- To promote healthy spirit of competition where students learn by experience(s).
3. The Context and Practice:
The prevailing system of higher education in the region focuses mainly on academic aspects and performance at the expense of other innate talents in the students. In order to bridge this gap, Co- Curricular Activities has been adopted as one of the best practices by the institution. The rationale behind this practice is to ensure the artistic and creative talent development of the students along with the pursuit of their academic degree. It also enables the teacher to act like advisor, motivator, communicator and coordinator so that the students could gain maximum of finer aspects of co-curricular activities. It develops a sense of belongingness among the students as well as the teachers. It helps the students to enhance social interaction, leadership, healthy recreation, self-discipline and self-confidence.
The itinerary of Co- Curricular Activities is charted out by the Dean in consultation with other concerned bodies which is included in the annual academic calendar. Annual sports week; annual talent hunt day; quiz, debate, essay-writing, painting, photography and slogan writing competitions, cultural day, food exhibition, flower show etc.
4. Notes:
Education being an all-round development of the body, mind and soul, it is with utmost care and deliberation that the institution aims to provide to the students avenues where they can be involved in a healthy and positive manner along with their academic pursuit. It is with the intent to nurture in the minds of the students the judicious use of free time for healthy development that such co-curricular activities are being organised by the institution to keep the young minds away from bad practices.

3. The context:
The nature of students’ background i.e. catering to different socio-cultural and economic diversity necessitates mentoring being opted as one of the best practices by the institution. The absence of institutionalised system of having proper system of mentoring, guidance and counselling in the region along with the obvious fact that most of the students are from remote areas and first generation learners makes it imperative on the part of the institution to provide mentoring i.e. guidance for all-round development of the students on academic as well as aesthetic lines. Moreover, it is aimed to align with the institutional mission and vision statement aiming to develop students on progressive lines .i.e. to imbibe in the students a rational positive outlook towards life thereby making them responsible citizens.
